NSW Police Search and Rescue in Sydney are looking at all of the original details around the search for the Cessna 210 VH-MDX that was lost somewhere in the Barrington Tops in 1981, with a view to considering the likely areas to search at this years SAREX in October.
As members may know, WICEN's ability to participate in emergency responses is due to its status a specialist squad within the Volunteer Rescue Association. As such, the VRA needs to know who its operators are, and to this end WICEN recently contacted members requesting their information for the VRA database, and a photograph for a VRA ID card. Members who have not yet received a VRA ID need to respond to Steven Heimann's email of March 13 entitled "[Wicen Announce] VRA member database and ID cards". It contains a small spreadsheet, in formats to suit a wide range of packages.

WICEN's Monday night HF net is being reduced to once a month. This will be the second Monday of each month, so the next HF net will be at 8 p.m. on Monday the 13th of May.
The group has started a 2m digital net via the Chatswood repeater at 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Wednesday of each month. The first of these was on Wednesday the 24th of April. Initially they will be using the mode MT63-2k-long. In the future it may be possible to link Chatswood with other repeaters to allow others to join the net.
