The annual Barrington Tops Search and Rescue Exercise, or SAREX, run by
the Bush Walkers Wilderness Rescue Squad will be held on 16 - 17 October
2010. WICEN will provide communications support for those participating
in this practical search exercise, which has the ultimate goal of
locating the missing Cessna, VH-MDX.

The Berowra 2 metre repeater on 147.175 MHz now requires a 91.5 Hertz
tone for access. This is due to a recent issue with noise on the input.
It also transmits a 91.5 Hz tone. The tone was selected in accordance
with the recent WIA National recommendation. These tones are also
necessary for users of the co-sited 70 centimetre repeater on

Next weekend is the Bushwalkers' Rescue Service NavShield, to be held
within a short distance north of Sydney.

David Sims VK2HSS reports that the RF Survey for the Trek For Timor
conducted last Sunday was a complete success.

WICEN is seeking additional operators for the NavShield, to be held
within a short distance north of Sydney. Operators able to walk in to
one of the checkpoints are also sought. Checkpoints will also be
staffed by Bushwalkers' Rescue Service members. The BWRS NavShield is
run over the weekend of 3rd and 4th July, with some setup on Friday 2nd,
for those able to make it.
