WICEN’s contribution to the current bush fire emergency is continuing. The group is providing several general and aviation radio operators in the Mid North Coast. Further operators are staffing the Bush Fire Information Line, located close to Olympic Park Station. Other VRA Squads, including AusCAP, the Australian Civil Air Patrol, are also active.

WICEN’s contribution to the current bush fire emergency is continuing, however at a reduced level. Focus in now on the Mid North Coast and further north with WICEN ACT providing an ARO operator at Kempsey Fire Control. It is anticipated further WICEN support will be provided to this area next week. Other VRA Squads are also active in provision of support to the RFS.

With widespread bush-fire activity across NSW, WICEN is currently assisting the Rural Fire Service is several locations. The organisation is providing radio communications operators for their Glen Innes, Kempsey, and Hawkesbury Fire Control Centres; the latter managing the nearly 2000 km² of the Gosper's Mountain fire north-west of Sydney. WICEN ACT is also providing resources to the RFS. WICEN operators have also been tasked to the Bush Fire Information Line at RFS State Operations at Homebush along with other VRA units, Marine Rescue, and SES.

With unprecedented bush-fire activity in northern NSW, WICEN is currently assisting the Rural Fire Service by providing operators for their Glen Innes Command Centre. Currently there are two operators here. WICEN is also contributing operators for VRA's support of the Bush Fire Information Line at Homebush.

WICEN has recently received an urgent request for a further six operators to cover Kempsey and Wauchope, over the coming week.

The Hawkesbury Canoe Classic, including the new Classic Relay, runs overnight from Saturday October 26th to Sunday 27th. This event has one of the largest staffing requirements of all events which WICEN supports.
