WICEN Victoria will be providing communications for the 2013 Murray Marathon. Operators will arrive at Cobram on 26 December, with the event starting the next morning at Yarrawonga, a little downstream. After 5 days of paddling down the Murray, which forms the NSW - Victoria border, the event concludes at Swan Hill on the 31st. WICEN ACT is part of the Canberra Region Amateur Radio Club. Their website at www.crarc.ampr.org includes details of both WICEN and general events.

Summer has been the time of year during which most WICEN activations have occured, so please remain ready. If you have bottled water as part of your go kit, and this is a supermarket product, it needs to be rotated frequently, as is has a limited life due to potential microbial activity. An alternative is the special long-life product available online, typically in light-proof containers, sold for purposes such as life-boats and underground refuges in mines.
