The BWRS will be conducting the Navshield at a currently secret
location not too far from Sydney on the 5th and 6th of July, for which
WICEN provides safety communications. A deputy commander is being
sought for this event.
There is also the option for members to join the WICEN team for the event.

August and September have four Memory Walks. These are fairly short
events, which would make great first events for newer members, and
would be suitable for new or trainee event co-ordinators.

This year's Trek for Timor will be in the Blue Mountains, now
confirmed for the 20th of September, with 13km, 25km and 45km options.

WICEN ACT is part of the Canberra Region Amateur Radio Club. Their
website at http://www.crarc.ampr.org/ includes details of both WICEN
and general events, including the upcoming Foundation licence course.

Coming events include:

Part 2 of the BWRS First Aid Course on 17th and 18th of May
Nav Shield on Saturday 5th and 6th of July

Your publicity officer saw a rather interesting device on the stand of
a major radio manufacturer at last week's CeBIT exhibition: A
handheld radio which uses an organisation's WiFi network. The IP100H
shared a case side with the ID-31A D-Star product.
